So Let's Do This... Shake the Cut Off Notice Blues
This is the ultimate in power solutions. Let's backup to how this started:
I was busy and away from home. I had not paid for electricity in over a year and a half due to my researched "Be Efficient" (TM) practices with my 16 roof solar panels that were not suppose to cover my yearly usage. I suddenly had a bill. I though was my son, but no. Several months later in summer, I still have a bill. Which was impossible with the blazing summer sun, except my panels had been off since the end of February according to the company, who claimed it was a missed as they had to order the part.
Procedure was to notify me and fix the problem as the representative immediately told me the day my panels stopped working. The contract had a clause if I did not get a minimum amount of sun. I would be reimbursed and I was. It was shy of what I had paid in electricity and I had lost summer sun credits that I would have used for winter.
Furious as I had done so much research to not have an electricity bill outside the net meter fee. Determined to never be in this position again I pushed the envelope to independent power. Let's Get Into It!
Too the far right you see the Transfer box. This box has 10 breakers my home box has more so everything does not switch over. Not a problem. As when doing this project, I discovered that with the rechargeable light bulbs, I did not need to include most lights. Some minor changes like solar lights outside and chipped outdoor solar cams can reduced the amount of switches. That being said...
I turned my electricity off every night and ran on solar batteries through my transfer box to not take back from the grid at night to regain my solar credits for winter. I also secured a completely independent energy system with a backup gas generator for recharging in winter if there is not enough sun. You only get me one time Buddy.
